What we do
Every solar, wind or battery plant that connects to the North American grid must demonstrate, by electromagnetic-transient (EMT) simulation, that it rides through faults, frequency excursions and phase-angle jumps as required by NERC PRC-029. EMT Pilot automates the slow parts of that study: predicting results before simulation to catch setup errors, operating the simulator through Claude-powered agents, and assembling the compliance report. The simulator and the OEM inverter models remain the source of truth; the engineer remains the signatory.
Why now
PRC-029 became enforceable in 2025 and the interconnection queue in ERCOT alone holds hundreds of gigawatts of inverter-based projects. The number of engineers who can run these studies has not grown with it. Large language models can now read a simulation model, reason about which event construction a case needs, drive the tooling, and explain the result against the standard. That is the gap EMT Pilot fills.
Founding team
Technology
- Offline predictor for point-of-interconnection voltage, validated on more than 320 scored cases across eight plants and five inverter OEMs.
- Simulator agent built on Claude Code and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for the EMT tool.
- Report writer built on the Claude API with retrieval over the current NERC standard text.
